Hi, everyone, this is Doug, with this month's traffic report. Once a
month, during the first part of the month, I send the report to
the entire HUMOR list. Welcome to the month of
December, 2001.
Starting this month, I will slowly be changing the Contributions of Humor. I
will not always make you work for the Contributions of Humor. I an extracting
the jokes from the Digests and storing them on my computer. If I have the joke
extracted, I will show it. If I do not have it extracted, the jokes themselves
will not be shown, only the link. Follow the link if you want to see what the
joke is. For more information on this, see the Contribution of Humor section.
I HAVE A NEW SITE FOR THE HUMOR ARCHIVES. When I get
everything moved, everything will be on this site. The
address is repeated later, but it is humor.catweasel.org.
Once I get everything moved, I will be implementing a
couple
new things. Watch the Traffic Report for further news.
I am running out of people who want to be featured in the
Contributor's SpotLight. I will be sending out request to
some of our Contributors this week, but if I get no more
accepting, I will have to discontinue that item in the
Traffic Report.
Some college students graduated this month. Remember to
signoff your old address and sign up at your new one if you
are not keeping your college mailing address.

HUMOR GOALS
A daily average of 10-20 examples of humor.
A diversity of humor: sources, forms, subjects.
Freedom of expression for contributors.
Protection of sensitivities for readers (heading warning
requirement).
HUMOR CONTRIBUTOR RULES (brief version)
Subject line should disclose the subject of the humor.
Subject line should include warning if potentially offensive.
One contribution per day.
Only substantial examples of verbal humor should be posted.
Discussion, requests, and criticisms are not to be posted.
No personal attacks, apologies, reactions or retractions.
Articles should normally be shorter than 25 lines (99 lines max).
Conserve bandwidth: Avoid blank lines; No ASCII art or sig file.
A contributor who violates the rules may be suspended.

Now the Contributor Spotlight:
Featured this month: Gwen Meehan
Gwen Meehan is one of our older Contributors (not in years, but in
time on the list). She has only contributed 4 times from June thru
September 2001. But that is going to change, as you can see below.
Here is information about her, in her own words.
Gwen Meehan has been on the humor list since 1993 (she started with a
different last name), and when she had more time in college and grad
school, provided a lot of posts to the list. She gets most of her
content from friends who forward her funny stuff, but has been known
to lift a newspaper column or two if it tickles her funny bone.
Currently, she's on maternity leave since the birth of her first
child. This means that we'll probably see more humor posts from her
in between caring for a baby boy. When she's not being a mom, she
works for AT&T doing computer security (trying to catch the bad guy
hackers). She spent the first couple of years on the list in
college, and then 4 years in the Air Force, before she separated in
1999 to work for AT&T.

And finally, the one feature which has been featured in all Traffic Reports,
the contribution of Humor. Since, I am not a real regular contributor, I will
not be providing new Humor. Instead, I will provide a joke from the archives.
It will be at least 14 months old, so most of you won't remember it. You will
either see the joke below or a link to the joke, not the actual joke, although
I will provide the Subject line (Topic). Since there are now HTML versions of
all Digests, it will point to the joke itself.
